Because I physically can't read as many books as I would want to, I prefer to limit to the following genres:
- Chick Lit
- Historical Fiction
- Legal Thrillers
- Murder Mystery
- Women's Fiction
- Young Adult
Even though I do enjoy Sci-Fi and Fantasy, most of the times the stories go over my head and I might not be able to appreciate the story as much. In the case of Romance (of any type) I have a deep prejudice against it, so it would not be fair that my personal dislike will cloud my review.
When I choose a book to read, I make sure to follow the author on Twitter and tweet my impressions of the book as I'm reading it. Once I'm done I will post a review on Goodreads & Amazon, a detailed review on this blog and if the author is willing an interview.
When I don't like a story I stop reading, but that doesn't mean I will give bad reviews. I will contact the writer privately and let him/her know there won't be a review and why. I think it's fair to offer a friendly critique. I believe in respecting the hard work of every author.
